Good morning everyone.
We continue to speak of curiosity about our city.
The "Toret" are little green fountain, shaped like a bull, which are present in Turin since the Thirties, all over the streets of Turin, mainly along the great boulevards and public gardens.
It seems to be about 700 in total. Initially they were made ​​of stone, then were replaced by cast iron ones. They are a particular feature of Turin. Their shape with the head of a bull was chosen because the bull is the symbol of the city.

Originally, the water that feeds the fountains, came from the Pian della Mussa,  today comes from the civic aqueduct.
The name "Toret "is a typical Piedmontese term which means "little bull".

Continuiamo a parlare di curiosità che riguardano la nostra città.

I “torèt” sono delle piccole fontanelle di colore verde, a forma di toro, che sono presenti a Torino fin dagli anni Trenta, lungo tutte le strade di Torino, soprattutto lungo i grandi viali alberati e nei giardini pubblici.

Pare siano circa 700 in totale. Inizialmente furono realizzati in pietra, poi sono stati sostituiti da quelli in ghisa. Sono una caratteristica particolare di Torino. La loro forma con la testa di un  toro è stata scelta perché il toro è il simbolo della città. Originariamente, l’acqua che alimenta le fontanelle, proveniva dal Pian della Mussa; oggi proviene dall’acquedotto civico.

Il nome “torèt” è un’espressione tipica piemontese che significa “piccolo toro”.
