I murazzi di Torino

Buongiorno a tutti.

Proprio sotto Piazza Vittorio Veneto, la più grande  e maestosa piazza di Torino, si trova l’area dei Murazzi. I Murazzi, cioè le arcate che costeggiano il Po, furono costruiti nel 1830/1835. Le arcate ospitavano concerie, lavanderie, falegnamerie, mulini e depositi per barche. La zona era anche considerata il luogo ideale per fare pic-nic, praticare sport e fare canottaggio. Poi ci fu l’abbandono e per lungo tempo, le arcate rimasero buie e vuote. A metà degli anni ’90, l’area ha cominciato nuovamente a riempirsi di locali, birrerie, club.

Ora è tutto un susseguirsi di discoteche, nightclub e locali vari che aprono le porte all’imbrunire e chiudono alle prime luci dell’alba. Sono ormai considerati, insieme al Quadrilatero Romano, uno dei poli della vita notturna torinese. La fama di Torino, città notturna spenta, è dunque sfatata: le occasioni di svago notturno sono ormai innumerevoli e riescono a soddisfare tutti i gusti.

Just below  Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the largest and most majestic square of Turin, lies the area of Murazzi. The Murazzi,  are  arcades running along the river Po; they were built in 1830/1835. The arcades housed tanneries, laundries, carpentry workshops, mills and warehouses for boats. The area was also considered an ideal place for picnics, sports and canoeing. Then, there was the abandonment and for a long time, the arcades were dark and empty. In the mid-'90s, the area has again begun to fill with local pubs and clubs. Now there is a succession of clubs, nightclubs and various local  that open doors at dusk and close at  dawn. They are now considered,  with the Roman Quarter, a cluster of Turin nightlife. The fame of Turin, a city night off, so it is debunked: the recreational opportunities are now endless night and can satisfy all tastes.
