The Royal Palace in Turin

Good morning everyone.
Today we speak of the first most important Savoy residence in Piedmont: the Royal Palace.
It’s situated in the city center and it’s the heart of the Savoy court: it’ s one of the oldest and most fascinating buildings in Turin. Originally, the building was a bishop's palace. In the sixteenth century it became the residence of the Savoy. The fall of the monarchy, in 1946,  destined these environments to oblivion, until it was decided on a massive restructuring.
The palace overlooks the majestic Piazza Castello and connects to other buildings that make up the complex of the Palace.
The facade of the building has a central part flanked by two higher wings , whose symmetry is broken, on the left, from the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, which houses one of the most precious jewels of the House of Savoy:  the Sacred Linen.
The interior of the Palace is very valuable and very refined: beautiful floors, tapestries, porcelains, paintings of each school.
On the second floor is a masterpiece of Filippo Juvarra: the “Scale of scissors”, an imposing marble staircase that sits on a beautiful wooden floor.
Styles that characterize the Royal Palace are three: Baroque, Rococò and Neoclassical, thanks to the various architects who worked there at different times.
